Media publishing: a place where writers, journalists, bloggers, and influencers gather to share ideas, recreate old ones, have a platform for new ones. When I started writing for Wide Open Spaces in 2014, I was new to working on the internet. A love/hate relationship followed suit.
I loved the quippy, snarky writing; I didn’t so much like the trolls. But such is the world of writing on the internet and having articles be seen and circulated more times I could ever imagine. Soon, our scrappy media company grew to become Wide Open Media Group and we launched Wide Open Country. I was then promoted to run our third platform, Wide Open Pets. I managed a team of seven to ten freelancers and published more than 4,000 articles over the years I was at the helm.
Here is an example of some of my top articles on Wide Open Spaces that most topped a million views.
*note: the titles have since been changed and the articles republished to drive additional traffic. Don’t pay attention to the time stamp- I wrote these in 2014.
